LED Kitchen Cabinet Lighting: Worktop, Storage or Display?

Cabinet lighting has three different jobs: lighting a worktop, showing the contents of storage and creating a display. Choose the job before choosing a strip or bar. Decorative improvement alone does not establish a higher property value.

Under the cabinet: test the worktop

Stand where you prepare food and inspect the actual work surface. Check shadows from your hands and the cabinet edge, as well as reflections in a glossy surface. A concealed source can still be visible from a nearby seat. Plan access to power and controls without running a lead across the preparation area.

Inside storage: check access and sensing

Open doors and drawers fully when measuring. The current Closet Light has 20 cm YLCG002 and 40 cm YLCG004 variants with USB-C charging. That makes size and charging access relevant checks, not proof that it is suitable for every damp, hot or grease-exposed kitchen location. Use the actual installation and environmental limits.

Display light is a separate choice

A strip above or behind furniture may create a background without lighting the worktop. Light Strip Pro is listed for decorative cabinet glow, but it requires its Standard control-box system; an Extension alone is not a complete installation. Check permitted mounting, cleaning access and the product’s location limits before committing.

Measure the useful result

Try the proposed light with cabinet doors open and closed, from both working and seated positions. Judge whether the intended surface is visible without an uncomfortable exposed source. Keep any fixed electrical work within an appropriately assessed installation rather than treating all cabinet lighting as a simple adhesive project.
