Choose kitchen lighting by location and purpose
Plan general light separately from light inside a cupboard or along a dry passage. A motion sensor can help in a suitable location, but it does not establish protection against water, steam or heat.
Options to compare for suitable dry locations
- Motion Sensor Closet Light: a sensor-light option for appropriate cupboard or storage locations.
- Crystal Mini ceiling light: an indoor ceiling light with motion and light sensors; its IP50 rating does not provide water protection.
- GU10 multicolour smart bulb: a bulb for a compatible GU10 fitting; check the fitting, dimensions and electrical requirements before replacing a bulb.
Check the installation environment
Keep products away from splash, steam and heat unless the exact product documentation establishes suitability for that location. Ask a qualified installer about fixed electrical work and protection requirements. Do not assume a decorative strip or sensor light can replace the main worktop light.
Frequently asked questions
Does a motion sensor make a light suitable near a sink?
No. Sensor functions and water protection are separate. Check the product protection rating and the installation location.
Is Crystal Mini protected against water?
Its IP50 rating does not provide water protection. Do not treat it as a wet-location light.
Can any GU10 bulb fit my existing spotlight?
Check the base, physical dimensions, electrical requirements and fitting instructions for the exact bulb and fixture.
